This article focuses on the first known description of the term of Candelaria after the segregation of Arafo, which occurred on January 3, 1798. It corresponds to a report written at the end of that same year by the official of the Candelaria City Council, Mr. Luis Pablo Ramos, in response to the 47 questions included in an instruction sent by the Government of Spain to all the peoples of the Kingdom. Although the different payments are not broken down, and they are not even named, it specifies the age groups of the population, by sex; trades or professional activities; employees and public buildings; and the personnel assigned to military and religious life (both parish and convent). In summary, an interesting vision of this jurisdiction at the end of the 18th century.

The author, Mr. Luis Pablo Ramos y Tapia (1735-1813), born in Seville and died in Tacoronte, son of a Canarian father, settled with his family in Candelaria, where Mr. Ramos was appointed faithful Email Marketing List of the City Council in 1797. -1798 and elected royal mayor of the same in 1807; He was still living in this town in 1810, when he requested the job of Militia officer for his son.

According to the previous report, the district of Candelaria had at that time 1,475 inhabitants, with a clear imbalance by sex, since 608 of them belonged to the male gender and 867 to the female gender; We assume that the strong emigration of men to America, in search of better fortune, had a lot to do with this high gap. The entire population lived in useful houses, except for three that were in ruins. Of the men, 201 were dedicated to agriculture and 12 to livestock.
